Luxurious Living: Aspen Gardens Home Design
The Owner of this property every single day used to spend a time in construction job-sites as a contractor. To avoid the dull, daily routine it was important to delight himself plunging into the cozy, full of natural light and warm colors lodge.
It was settled to create the modern and simultaneously home vibe safe indoor space.

The key to impressing the person who enters is to intrigue them. Creating an effective welcome is essential. Designing the vestibule or entry area is essential. It involves adding the finish materials which will characterize the rest of the interior holistically.

Natural light becomes a material into itself. Feature wood slatted walls cast warm filtered light across rooms. Overhead feature drop ceilings and apertures between the slats bathe spaces in diffuse glows. They contrast with shadows, giving the effect of irregular shapes, spreading the rectangular into infinity.

The main wall selected color is “White Sand” by Sherwin Williams SW 9582. We faced the question of how to maintain continuity with natural materials. We realized that avoiding any discomfort when walking barefoot should be emphasized. This allows you to feel freedom and safety. Our designer carefully searched for material availability. Ultimately, they decided to use almond prefinished oak hardwood floor as the finish material for both main and upper floors. It allows you to feel the real wood touching by foot with every step.
LIVING ROOM

Another approach to go beyond the regular shape of the premises is to deploy the mirror. Nonetheless, it shouldn’t be used so obviously. If it doesn’t serve the purpose of reflecting the person, it is not necessary. The mirror should be camouflaged by the main feature materials, like wood, in this design. It should only slightly expose the reflection of the interior. It should also allow natural light to penetrate further into the rest of the room.
To avoid making the kitchen the dominant room, it was decided to blend the kitchen cabinets with the wall color. This subtle choice ensures a harmonious look.

The main role of the living open concept plays the stair, finished with red oak and the tempered glass railing. The secondary structure is the fireplace feature wall upgraded with Japanese Style “KINTSUGI” big size tiles and dropped ceiling emphasized by wood panels in the alcove

UPPER FLOOR

“ASPEN COMMUNITY GARAGE UPGRADE” IN CALGARY AB
Opened to the bold ideas, customers requested to upgrade the existing attached three bay garage.

The main criteria was to make the showroom type interior of the luxury appearance. In this project, our company teamed up with a “Space Ceiling” general contractor. They supply and install the extraordinary stretched ceiling and linear integrated LED light solution products for the local market. These products fall under the classification of top-notch materials.

During the first onsite meeting, it was decided to use the mirror effect. A translucent type of stretched ceiling will be the dominant material. These will include integrated LED linear light fixtures. Three of the canvases were suggested to feature automaker logo prints. Another canvas should have a selected high resolution city perspective image print.

The existing pale color garage cabinetry was upgraded with 3M film wrap. For a feature tall cabinet was selected the “graffiti” style print to emphasize the street art. To shade out the rest of the walls, the secondary color semi-gloss black.

NORTH HILL PARK” COMMUNITY BUNGALOW RENOVATION ON NW OF CALGARY

Our Team encountered this project where we have had ownership of difficult challenges.
Floor plan reveals the diversity of the interior design, echoing the architectural elements itself rather than decoration.

This bungalow was built with old standards. It no longer meets the demands of the new buyer’s lifestyle. We had to redesign the main floor hub area with an open concept. It needed ample light penetration. We also had to segregate the space into specific purpose zones. Formerly, the structure had a great area and a kitchen area. The dining room was segregated with partition walls and one structural bearing wall. One post remains, based on an engineer’s solution for disclosing space. It serves as a pivotal middle point for reinventing the great area merged with the kitchen. Moreover, as a result of dismantling the walls the beams headers stayed. We were faced with the question how to convert this bad look perspective into effect. Several solutions were proposed. We decided to outline the ceiling boundaries of the kitchen. We used decorative wood grain paneling and linear accent light. Yet, the new layout was suggested to rotate the island untraditionally, due the lack of space near the staircase. This choice made the kitchen and the dining a transition zone among the loud entertaining and serenity zones. The second one has a staircase heading to the feature sunroof located on the rooftop.
The fireplace and screen feature wall is cladded with tinted glass panels. These panels match with glass railings and mirror the great room space.

A wood slat wall emphasizes the space. It creates integrity with the rest of the premises. This feature unveils the contrast between the standard main floor height ceiling and the tall wall stairway. It makes the interior more diverse.

The architect explains: the bathrooms incorporated light colors of the wall. They feature modern look cement patterned porcelain tiled floors. Backslashes contrast with warm maple wood grain vanity cabinet doors. The ensuite features a freestanding tub with a light fixture above it. There is a spacious shower divided by glass panels from the entire space.
Master bedroom was upgraded with a wood slatted wall to make the holistic vibe of the home interior.

The generous volume basement was developed with a wet bar zone and a relaxation area. One feature wall of the electrical fireplace is cladded with wood grain veneer panels.

BUNGALOW ADDITION CONSTRUCTION IN WILLOW PARK CALGARY AB

Beside the amendments in the foundation extension, the project focused on increasing the number of bedrooms on the main floor. It also aimed at enlarging the great room area. This area is joined with the kitchen and dining room.

The existing structure had a standard sloped roof with an eight feet height ceiling. Yet, a decision has been made to change the roof type. It will go from a hip one to a hybrid version. This is a mix of open gable, mullion, and lean-to, ensuring the creation of a semi vaulted ceiling.

Once the high ceiling has been constructed the “well effect” has been balanced with faux beams. Multiple void relationships promote the interconnection among the main floor high ceiling with transom windows. The open-to-below staircase enhances the natural lighting penetration to the basement.

Those voids and other double height spaces give the house visual and spatial interest. They are mainly designed as part of the building’s energy and lighting efficiency strategy.
Contemporary Farm Style House
This Modern Residential house is situated in Okotoks Alberta CA 2023

Total house area is 3546 ft2 (useful main floor and basement) 1340 ft2 (Barn).
9 ft ceiling height on each floor with 12 ft height ceiling in the great room.

The residence was conceived as a lifetime house for a couple. It is formed essentially by the main house with private space on the main floor. The guest and entertainment room is in the basement.

The property also has the multifunctional barn with two bays for virtual golf gaming equipment. It is deemed to be as men’s cave feature.

Initially, the owner intended to design the walkout basement with an above deck and concrete patio. There was no planned barn location on the property. Nevertheless, this ideas has been changes on more organically embedded choice with wide spread structure appearance.

The gravel driveway connects the different parts of the residence. It links the long way entry with native grown trees and shrubs seated on the uneven land. It also links the far flat section which starts from the natural drainage swale. From that relief frontier is planned to be a house and barn location.

The long, low succession of volumes is placed into the farmland acreage environment. Generous glazing emphasizes the connection to the southern Alberta nature.

The main floor house is designed to be gently lifted off the ground. It features broad glazing and a diversified, multi-elevation structure. This design takes full advantage of the natural setting while disturbing the environment as little as possible.

Our crew has faced the most challenging stage in the designing process. They had to incorporate the roof in a multi elevation structure and attached garage. This was done to avoid errors and vulnerable spots for snow getting stuck.

The main roof is covered by asphalt shingles and emphasized with corrugated.

Overall, the single home is balanced with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. It includes versatile rooms like a theater, wine room, secret office room, pool, and fireplace rooms.
Modern Single House in Hodgson

874 Hollands Landing NW
This Modern Residential house is situated at Hodgson subdivision SW of Edmonton.

The lot is wrapped by a curved road. The corner dwelling has the advantage of broadly disclosing the shape volume. The shown house structure is designed with mixed matching exterior finish materials. These materials include “Kayu” wood planks, vented aluminum panels, and stucco.

It is a two story house with a developed basement and three vehicles garage, four bedrooms five bathrooms, a full kitchen with open to above ceiling. The total area is 4226 sq. ft. above the grade. With nine feet ceiling In a main floor and basement and standard eight feet height on the upper floor.

Single Family Home in Ebbers Community
The house is located in North East part of Edmonton Alberta and 10 kilometers of downtown city.

The architecture is classified as Neo-traditional style, which is so common in Ebbers community. As main exterior finish material has been selected the traditional/clapboard profile siding with bold and simple wide trims, corner battens, window bands, shadow boards, porch columns and fascia’s painted in white color in order to contrast with dark color siding. For diluting the repetition it has been decided to emphasize the three façade sides with natural cedar shake tiles and urban black color brick veneer.
The interior is developed in minimalist style with sense of ample of light and air. At the very beginning when you enter inside opens the view to the perspective of the interior and natural light penetration from the “open to above” ceiling creates the atmosphere of contemporary dwelling where each focal point intriguing.
The upper floor corridor opens to below view to the entry and a great room. Beside the standard master bedroom and Ensuite/walk in closet allocation it would be reasonable to highlight the feature of the upper floor such as shared walk in closet and bathroom for same gender kids rooms. Each kid has the doors to the same section.
The house is situated on sloped infill that allows to design the walkout basement.
“ORIGAMI BUILDING” ON 98 ST. NW
The inspiration for this structure was the traditional Japanese art or technique of folding the plain materials into a variety of decorative or representational forms. At the very beginning of brainstorming on the project we realized that if we won’t go too complicated with searching the shape far away from the regular rectangular structure we could succeed. Small bias incline or beveling in a folded line allow us to gain something new, that won’t be so common in the urban space, therefore it could diversify the environment.

The building is classified as the Mixed -Use purpose, which means the main floor has two commercial units for the tenant public business (hair salon, nail salon, small cafe, chiropractic office e.t.c.). The upper floor is suggested to be short and long term rental apartment property. Built to maximize sustainability and energy efficiency the structure location is perfectly intended for that type of profitable property. It is situated near the heart of downtown Edmonton in a busy area.
Prefabricated aluminum composite panels structure makes use of what the author calls mass-rejuvenation the past and future of the building elements. Energy efficient lights are used and the roof fascia, soffits and the semi-mansard was designed to reflect light, reducing electricity consumption by 11% as compared to conventional buildings.

The main finish material of the exterior is the exterior stucco, painted with acrylic paint. The main group of colors was selected that imitate the urban environmental shades, emphasized with feature color in bottom sides of exterior soffits and added the composite material for the residential floor emulating the wood planks finishes.
Taking into account we work based on the world’s art wealth, making a little move in order to culturally gain overall we are on our way to contribute for urban diversification.
ASPEN RESIDENCE IN SW OF CALGARY

Aspen community is known as one of the large part of once in a lifetime community with panoramic mountain views, breathtaking streetscapes and endless amenities.
The Detached house of this residence has been designed in Canadian Modern Style, and located by the direction of the Rocky mountain.
This project set on the boundary between an urban environment and the mountain. The design takes both landscapes into account.

From the customer’s list of preferences we found and implemented most of the outdoor space features.
The composition “house extension under the sky” was suggested to split onto two zones relaxation and functional. On one hand the first zone endeavors to plunge you into sensation, sounds, scents, tactility (that include, softscape, fire pit, waterfall) on another hand to the second zone in active part of the backyard, where each resident can find himself involving in activity incl. (basketball game, gardening, hot tube lounging, chatting in a circle on the covered patio, do yoga on the lawn).

The exterior finish of the house is in two shades of stucco, exposed concrete, red cedar in contrast with a rough surface of the Alberta sandstone, while exposed concrete, lacquer, and plywood are employed in the interior
Our team states that we have willfully made the continuity of space, both vertical and horizontal.
BAUHAUS RESIDENCE
This property has been created in BAUHAUS style, inspired by German and founded by Walter Gropius in Weimar 1919 art school that combined art and fine crafts for urban zone.

The house was purpose for owners, who value the freedom from unnecessary things and use functionality of family schedule.

The main floor living room is merged with upper floor space creating up to above the sense of a huge house.

It was developed the feature as a final element of the living room such as 8′ x 10′ convex sky light roof window. The building body shape was built by implementing the cinder blocks measure 16 inches long by 8 inches wide by 8 inches high. Cinder blocks are lightweight, durable and fireproof, making them a useful home building material.

At the very end of the property is situated the modern gazebo with fire pit and the chimney, that can be shelter at the scorching sunny days, either a great retreat at the dark time, when the flame light efficiently reflects from the white walls and illuminates perfectly this nook.

GAZEBO IN COCHRANE ALBERTA
When you are established in your dreams house it is high time to think about the outdoor space, especially, if you have a decent sized lot.

Once upon a time our customer has decided to move out from the city to the rural acreage. They found the compact house that satisfied their family members. It is not a secret that we are all eager time to time to immerse close to our mother nature in order to harmonize our state. The client wasn’t an exception. She requested us to design a tiny summerhouse that could be a great feature on their huge territory.
The pivotal point of her requirement was to have the Gazebo that let her to be covered from the nasty weather and avoid the flies or mosquitoes intrudes.
Furthermore any mechanical room break the gazebo concept. After All we got the solution. The wood burner fireplace. It could be cozy and functional.

At the beginning we proposed to make the round shape of the body with pyramidal type of roof.

Customer was impressed and would love it to have on the yard. She was analyzing this version for a couple days was discussing with family members and conclude we have to make more space, because time to time they used to gather with their friends. Definitely, we have to have at least 6 persons capacity.

So, what we designed as consequences of brainstorm. The rectangular structure is made of cedar wood that sheathed in wide Cedar boards and plywood.
In order to have a sense of nature presence such as the wind light breeze, the sounds of birds and flying insects, tree leaves rustles or ornamental grasses we implemented instead the regular glass windows the net screens

This gazebo lets to enjoy even the night time atmosphere, keeping warm and fairy moment in depth of memory.
Tudor style gazebo

Tudor style gazebo has been designed for the residential customer in Upper Mount Royal, Calgary, AB (Summer 2018)
Ultimately, we have determined to use the cedar wood frame and kayu exotic wood in interior paneling.
Turned out that the customer is a connoisseur of Renaissance or Tudor style, therefore we have been forced to plunge into 16th century atmosphere in order to achieve the authentic result.

We have been challenged as well to follow the City of Calgary building code regulation for getting the permission in specified community.
After 3 month of struggling we have been approved to implement that project.

For easy transformation to make the gazebo part of the outdoor space, we suggested to integrate the retractable type of windows. In foldable state it opens to you the eight feet span.
VARSITY RESIDENCE RENOVATION
This project involved the renovation of a house designed by Alex Ksenofontov and renovated by Re-invent renovation in 2018

We were attempting to keep as much as possible original plan of the main floor and fully changed the second floor master bedroom with Ensuite

The Great room was combined with kitchen and dining area in ratio 50/50. Prior the renovation it was longing to 30/60, 30% of it went to kitchen. The Great room was combined with kitchen and dining area in ratio 50/50. Prior the renovation was ratio to 30/60, 30% of it went to kitchen. We added the side bar as feature for the dining area

The second floor has required bigger ensuite in comparison the before renovation state. Customer desired to have “walk in closet” as well, therefore we have been force to take some portion from the adjacent bedroom behind the wall in benefit to master bedroom.
Well, the house interior has been changed from traditional colonial style into contemporary Canadian style atmosphere.
DOWNTOWN APARTMENT
One bedroom apartment in downtown that suits for time to time accommodation while the business trip. Customer desired to have neutral interior, that have only one accent.

There wasn’t any option beside merging living room with kitchen area, therefore we ultimately we have studio type space with one adjacent bedroom. No doubts, the kitchen has to be cool in contrast of neutral warm main area.

It was selected blue faced cabinets doors with white quartz countertop and eating table.Above dining zone we decided to implement stretched semi-transparent ceiling with LED module evenly spreading illumination.

Kitchen walls and floor are faced with fade grey porcelain tiles. As kitchen accent it was selected modern ELICA hood fan.

Living was separated with white oak hardwood floor made in Finland.
Adjacent partition wall has a false transom, fabricated using the stretched ceiling fabric. Drop ceiling was broken down into three step types slabs.

The bottom one is aligned with kitchen zone ceiling, making the main room highest ceiling elevation as dominant space.

The monochrome washroom is highlighted in green in base free shower.

Bedroom is pretty small for any frills, so finally the main idea was to make this rest nook as background of the sweet dreams, letting enjoy the spectacular view from the full size window.
ADDITION ON 59 MASTER CRESCENT SE, CALGARY, AB
Client bought the house in fast-growing Mahogany community in Calgary AB. His backyard turned out undeveloped and absolutely bare and the dwelling had lack of sunroom.

He pointed out the the list of requirements, most of them he has had shrank, because of the budget and some haven’t fall to the domestic building codes.

Ultimately, we have designed wood frame addition with cathedral type roof, that has degree pitch.

Ultimately, we coped to complete the exterior before the extremal frost has came.
BEFORE RENOVATION
The exterior before was pretty neat but bleached.

Unfortunately, we launched the project at the end of the fall and have had to do the exterior even in snowy weather.

The interior had stink old materials, too yellowish.
SKINNY HOUSE IN UNIVERSITY AREA OF EDMONTON
At Meanwhile our customer had a challenge. He possess the land 27 feet wide and 130 feet long only, that forced him to think about to build something narrow. Tiny, house? Nooo! Modular house? Noo! Camper? Oh my gosh! Skinny house? Indeed, let’s consider this idea.

LDLINE team has developed the typical size of skinny house that equal: 17’x50′ 2,5 storey house with 4 bedrooms and 4 bathroom.
Total area is: 1900 sq.ft. + 630 sq. ft. undeveloped basement. Design is contemporary style with front and side cantilevers.
The feature of exterior is combining the urban brick veneer with light metal grill.
Pitched roof is upgraded with solar photovoltaic panels that generate around 290 Kw/h per day, that meet 50% of your average energy needs.
The house has two upper terraces, one in front another one is aimed towards to the backyard.
The skinny house is a solution for those who has a limited property lot and is necessary to arrange maximum private space using every single inch of area.
9915 149 STREET INTERIOR ALTERATION
9915 149 STREET BUILDING AT NW OF EDMONTON.
The project is suggested to make small changes in alterations not touching the bearing walls or engineered beams.
The pivotal idea of the design is to enhance and simplify the old fashioned detached house into a new version of open concept.
After site visit in person and discussion with the owner it has been decided to merge the kitchen with great room torn down the partition wall among the rooms.

Once we entered the bonus room adjacent to the entry I realized it would be a great approach to combine the upper floor with the designated home office area exposing the ceiling making the “open to above” concept letting the natural upper floor light to penetrate into the bonus room. Meanwhile, it makes the space extraordinary keeping off from the standard box type room.

Because the house is located in a high density coniferous grove area we thought it would be suitable to deploy light nuance finish materials emphasized with bold colors and dark textures in decor and furniture in order to reflect the min light emplify to the maximum gain. Moreover the light shades always have benefits to allow you to design your space down the road adding the new frills when some occasions require.
Hopefully we have designed pretty cozy and nowadays property for a happy owner.
